End Message
Greetings to all members of the Valencia Reserve
Men’s Club. At this time of the year we, your Board of
Directors, wish to thank all of you for your
participation in our Men’s Club. Even though we are a
very new organization, when you look at all that has
been accomplished since last April, one would have to
say our organization is dynamic, full of fun and
excitement, and welcomes all male residents (and
future residents) of Valencia Reserve to join our
family. In the few short months since our founding we
are approaching 300 members. Just outstanding!!!
Let’s take a look at where we have been.
April: We went to the Marlins/Mets baseball game. We had an interesting and important talk on nutrition given by our member Dennis Harkins. We also had a marvelous day on the “Duck Tour” in Miami.
May: We had a talk from the US Army Corps of Engineers on the restoration of Florida’s Everglades.
Then we hosted Mr. Gary Nikolits, the chief of the Palm Beach County Appraiser’s Office, who discussed issues of real estate property tax.
June: We had a fun filled breakfast with invited guests who viewed a live Las Vegas performance of Terry Fator. Many members went to see the show Hair at the Broward Center. We also said goodbye to the Good Times Club who split their assets between the Women’s Club and the Men’s Club.
July: Found our group at the Isle Casino & Racetrack.
August: We hosted an exciting show featuring Suzi Cruz.
September: We held our first breakfast meeting for the 2011-2012 season with a speaker, James O. Rohrbach, who presented his ideas about investing in the stock market. The first Men’s Club sponsorship of Bingo was held with great success. We also had an evening at Jai Alai coupled with a visit to Jaxson’s ice parlor.
October: Fred Taub , from the Seniors vs. Crime project of the Florida’s Attorney General’s office, presented important information on scams, identity theft, and other crimes that seniors need to be aware of. The highlight event of the month was the super Halloween costume party at our clubhouse.
November: Our breakfast meeting featured Sam Storch who presented a talk on nostalgia sprinkled with some of his experiences with astronomy. We also went on an overnight trip to Ft. Myers. This event included shopping trips to malls and Naples, a murder mystery train ride, and a short visit to the Imokalee Seminole casino. We also hosted the second Men’s Club Bingo event.
December: We attended the Carlucci/Cohen wedding.
Can you beat all this? We invite your suggestions on how we can improve and provide our members with interesting speakers and events. Also don’t keep this a secret, but our brand new web site will be launched in the coming weeks.
A superb year so far and much more to come.
We wish all of you a Happy Chanukah, Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year. May we have a year filled with joy.
